Whitewood Acquires Sedgewick Contract Furniture

 THOMASVILLE, NC - Whitewood Industries. which produces both finished and unfinished furniture, has acquired Sedgewick Industries, a High Point, NC manufacturer  of upholstered furniture for the office and hospitality markets. 

Whitewood Industries, Inc. was founded in 1982 in Greensboro, NC as a distributor of ready-to-finish furniture to retail stores throughout the eastern United States. Today, Whitewood Industries Inc.’s divisions include, Whitewood Ready-To-Finish (unfinished furniture), John Thomas Furniture (casual dining and custom finish programs), and International Concepts (supplier to specialty retailers). Whitewood Industries’ employs 120  at its Thomasville, NC manufacturing, warehousing, corporate offices, and showroom facilities, which total 400,000 square feet.  

According to a website history, Whitewood began as a ready-to-finish furniture wholesale, then moved into juvenile furniture in 1985. In 1990, Whitewood purchased its first facility in Thomasville, NC, and finished furniture was added to the Whitewood lineup. In mid 1994, Whitewood purchased a second facility in Thomasville expanding to 250,000 sq. feet.

In 2000 the "John Thomas Furniture" division was created for casual dining finished furniture. In 2006, Whitewood  expanded into a third facility located in High Point NC. A video below shows Whitewood Industries production.
