TAUBERBISCHOFSHEIM, GERMANY - Solid wood machinery firm Weinig AG says it will expand its plant in Yantai, China, to produce Unicontrol 6 window millwork machinery.

Weinig Expands China PlantLocated in Shandong province, the plant will be expanded by about 8,500 square feet to a total of 130,000 square feet.

The new assembly hall was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by the members of the board at Weinig flew in from Tauberbischofsheim for the event.

The Unicontrol 6 window machines to be produced there for custom production of window frames have been sold in Germany for many years. Weinig says the expansion of the plant to produce window machining equipment is in response to strong growth experienced by the wood processing industry in China.

"Our Chinese customers value engineering from Germany", says Wolfgang Pöschl, Weinig chairman. "The Unicontrol 6 will be assembled in Yantai according to German standards of quality to satisfy the increasing demands of the Chinese market."
