LAVAL, QC - Uniboard, a manufacturer of composite wood products, will invest $3 million to increase its thermally fused melamine (TFM) capacity at its Sayabec, QC, plant.

Uniboard said investments to its TFM press #3 production line will also improve efficiency when the project is completed in January 2013. The  upgrades will provide increased capacity to supply a wider range of finishes, such as its recently-launched RIO and high-gloss finishes.

Uniboard President and CEO James Hogg stated: “This investment not only increases our thermally fused melamine capacity but will also keep us at the leading edge of technology. As the leader in Quebec, Ontario and the Northeast United States markets, this investment will allow Uniboard to better service our customers.”

Uniboard Canada Inc. is has installed capacity of more than 640 million square feet of raw particleboard, high-density and medium-density fiberboard, of which over 50% is converted into value-added melamine and laminate flooring products. Uniboard Canada is a subsidiary of Pfleider of Germany, which earlier this year completed the sale of the Uniboard MDF and TFM plants in Moncure, NC, to Arauco.
