Stella-Jones Acquires Alabama Wood Treating PlantsMONTREAL, QUEBEC – Stella-Jones Inc. announced that it has acquired the wood treating facilities of Boatright Railroad Products, Inc. The facilities were obtained to increase Stella-Jones’ variety of treated wood products and services to the railroad industry in North America, according to the company.

“We expect this transaction to yield synergies and to be immediately accretive to earnings, as we continue to optimize the overall efficiency of our continental network,” said Brian McManus, president and CEO of Stella-Jones.

The facilities, located in Montevallo and Clanton, AL, manufacture and distribute creosote and borate-treated crossties, switch ties, tie plugs and bridge timbers to railroads and railroad contractors. They were acquired for approximately $60 million.
