Steelcase Promotes Keane to COO

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -  Steelcase Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of office furniture promoted Jim Keane from president to COO.

Steelcase Promotes Keane to COOIn his new role, Keane will be responsible for the design, engineering, development, manufacturing, sales and distribution of the company's brands in nearly 160 countries that Steelcase serves.

According to his Linked-In account, Keane joined Steelcase as president in March 2006. Prior to that he served five years as senior engagement manager for McKinsey & Co., a Chicago-based consulting firm. He also worked at Motorola and Pete Marwick. A 1981 graduate of the College of Business at the University of Illinois, Keane earned his MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business in 1987.

Steelcase, a publicly-traded company, generated revenue of $2.75 billion in fiscal 2012. In addition to office furniture, Steelcase manufactures healthcare, hospitality and contract furnishings. It has a global network of approximately 650 dealers.
