Steelcase Foundation Donates $150,000 to LibraryATHENS, AL -- The Steelcase Foundation has pledged $150,000 to the Athens-Limestone Public Library Foundation, which hopes to convert a former Kroger food store into a new library.

The donation comes in the form of a grant, half of which the library had applied, according to the News Courier. The library stands to receive a $1 million donation from Indiana-based Dekko Foundation if it is able to raise at least $750,000 this year.

Steelcase of Grand Rapids, MI, operates a plant in Athens. Late last year, Steelcase announced plans to invest $2 miilion to upgrade finishing operations at the facility.

The Steelcase Foundation was etablished in 1951 and focuses on the areas of human service, health, education, community development, the arts and the environment.
