Sierra Pacific Closes Deal for Windows and Door Company

The Anderson, CA-based Sierra Pacific Industries completed the purchase of the Wisconsin-based company Aug. 5. The acquisition adds manufacturing capacity, a skilled work force, additional product lines, and immediate exposure to Central and Eastern U.S. and international markets for the Window Division of Sierra Pacific Industries, company officials said. SPI plans to keep the Hurd and Superseal brands in their Windows Division that already includes Sierra Pacific Windows.

The combined SPI/Hurd entity will be a vertically integrated company, from tree to finished product. Hurd's market share doubled in the past six years. Plus, the addition of Hurd and Superseal will significantly expand SPI's sales and manufacturing capabilities, company officials said.

Sierra Pacific owns and manages nearly 1.9 million acres of timberland in California and Washington, and is the second largest lumber producer in the United States.
