Schnadig Moving Production from China to U.S.HIGH POINT, NC -- Production of Schnadig International's licensed Ralph Lauren upholstered furniture line is moving from China to North Carolina.

Schnadig has tapped Key City Furniture of Wilkesboro, NC, to produce Ralph Lauren chairs, sofas and love seats. The move will reportedly allow Schnadig to increase its fabric options from a couple to 50 right away and possibly up to 60 more down the road.

The decision to partner with Key City Furniture was made after Schnadig gave thought to purchasing a U.S. factory, according to the Wilkes Journal-Patriot.

Schanidig was purchased by Markor, one of China's biggest furniture companies, in 2009.

The move is among several recent announcements of wood manufacturing relocating from China to the North America, including wood products firm Global Sticks, Stanley Furniture which has moved its Young America furnishings line to Robbinsville, NC, and Shanghai-based St. Martin Cabinetry.

Boston Consulting Group reported earlier this month that wood products manufacturing is among seven industry sectors for which the U.S. will become a more favorable location for production.
