Mission Bell plans growthMORGAN HILL, CA - Custom woodworking and casegoods firm Mission Bell Manufacturing says it has seen its business grow despite the general slowdown in construction.

With 145 employees, Mission Bell saw revenues rise from $22.9 million in 2009 to $27 million in 2010. CEO Clint Ramsey projected $30 million for 2011, according to a San Jose Business Journal report.

The company, which serves high end institutional and fast-track Silicon Valley clients,  moved into its current 103,000 square foot, highly automated production facility in August 2007. it also operates a showroom in San Francisco.

Mission Bell says it is known for both its custom woodwork and high production plastic laminate casework and countertops. Working in commonly requested species like cherry and maple, it also sources rare, exotic woods, including Eucalyptus, Sycamore, Anegre, Zebra wood and Pearwood, along with many types of laminates, metals, stone, granite and glass.

Mission Bell also designs and lays-up its own veneer panels, and provides clients with matched veneer faces specified for high end projects. It also has experience working in projects geared to earn LEED credits, and carefully integrates its project planning and design applications with other construction contractors, smoothing the installation process. 

Originally named “Morgan Hill Millwork,” the company was founded in 1959 by Leonard Scianna and his wife Marjorie. In 2002, Mission Bell Manufacturing launched an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and over the years ESOP ownership has grown to almost 50 percent.
