NEW VINEYARD, ME – Maine Wood Concepts, manufacturer of custom wood turnings, wood tool handles and custom moulded wood products, reached an agreement to purchase Vic Firth Gourmet, which manufactures a line of high-end wood pepper mills and rolling pins.

The sale of the line includes all equipment, inventory, intellectual property, and customer lists associated with that portion of the business. It is anticipated that Maine Wood Concepts will continue to manufacture most of the products currently made by Vic Firth Gourmet.

“The acquisition of the gourmet line is a perfect fit and will create up to 20 additional jobs at the New Vineyard location," said Doug Fletcher, president of Maine Wood Concepts. “This  acquisition launches us into a new line of work...consequently, we’re now in the process of getting quotes for expansion of our manufacturing facilities.”

Maine Wood Concepts, a family-owned business, has been manufacturing custom woodturnings and mouldings from Maine hardwoods since 1971. Vic Firth was a timpanist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and has been manufacturing drumsticks for more than 40 years. His company will continue to focus on that portion of the business.
