Home Building Reports Send Lumber Prices SkywardA slew of positive housing information is upping investor interest in lumber companies like Louisiana-Pacific and Weyerhaeuser.

Newly built family homes jumped by 5.7% in September, its fastest sales pace since April 2010.  The National Association of Home Builders coupled that figure with a report that housing markets in the U.S. displaying consistent improvementgrew by 22 so far this month, bringing the total to 125 metrolpolitan housing markets that are on the rise.

Lumber companies have been battling through subdued demand for some time. Those lumber companies still standing will benefit from the uptick as well as reduced competition, say trading analysts Shines Room.
