JOPLIN, MO -- KraftMaid Cabinets has played a role in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the past nine seasons. Tonight, the long running show will air its 200th and final episode as it reveals seven homes built in seven days for families affected by the devastating F5 tornado that hit Joplin, MO, last year.

"KraftMaid was proud to be a part of such a tremendous effort in Joplin," said Mark Ayers, vice president of brand marketing for KraftMaid. "Working with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team, we were able to help ensure all the homes were different so the families who would live there had a unique space created just for them."

The seven homes all feature different designs and styles, making it one of the largest projects the show has ever completed. A local KraftMaid dealer, Cabinetry Showcase by Ed Hines Co., was on hand to help coordinate installation of the cabinetry.

Extreme Partners
According to Susan Cross, brand and communication manager for KraftMaid, the company has been the only vendor to partner with the show all nine seasons. During that time more than 200 families have been helped and Kraftmaid has donated more than 14,000 cabinets. The most common cabinets manufactured were for the kitchen, bath and laundry, as well as for an occasional home office or a rec room.

The whole process of working with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has been a "labor of love," Cross says. When KraftMaid was initially approached with the concept of a makeover show, the idea was an ideal fit because the company was looking for ways to show its design capability, she adds.

"Kraftmaid regularly particpates in makeover shows because it's an effective way for people to see the possibility of their own space," Cross notes. "Its been a way to bring to life good design."

Many of KraftMaid's employees have been involved in developing product for Extreme Makeover homes, from design to manufacturing, assembly and delivery. Early on, Cross says that some members of the production team even wrote personal notes to the families and left them in the cabinets for them to find later.

The final episode airs tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
