Kewaunee Scientific Expands in China with Lab Furniture FacilitySTATESVILLE, NC - Kewaunee Scientific Corp. has opened an assembly and distribution facility in China to capitalize on the growing Asian market for the company's healthcare and laboratory furniture. Located near Shanghai, the 10,000-square-foot facility will also serve as Kewaunee's China headquarters.

Kewaunee will operate in China under the subsidiary Kewaunee Scientific (Suzhou) Co. Ltd.

"We are extremely excited about our new Suzhou facility," said David Rausch, Kewaunee CEO. "China has been identified as one of Kewaunee's key growth markets, and this new facility, combined with an ongoing expansion of our sales organization in the country, positions Kewaunee to build on its success in recent years in China."

Among Kewaunee's projects in the region was the Beijing Olympics drug testing laboratory. Rausch said Kewaunee has also supplied laboratory testing furniture for many of China's nuclear power plants.

Plans for the new facility were first announced in late May. Founded in 1906, Kewaunee Scientific Corp. designs, manufactures and installs laboratory, healthcare, and technical furniture items. Headquartered in Statesville, NC, the company's products include: steel, wood, and laminate casework, fume hoods, adaptable modular systems, moveable workstations, stand-alone benches, biological safety cabinets, and epoxy resin worksurfaces and sinks.

In addition to the new China facility, Kewaunee has three manufacturing facilities in Statesville serving the domestic and international markets, and a manufacturing facility in Bangalore, India serving the local and Asian markets. The Company has subsidiaries in Singapore, India and China.

Kewaunee Scientific (NASDAQ: KEQU) reported net earnings of $3.9 million in 2014, up 26% from 2013.
