Kitchen Maestro, developed by sound systems luminaries Harman & Kardon, being shown by hardware and component manufacturer Hafele

The Chicago Kitchen & Bath Industry Show is generating a lot of news and new introductions in cabinets, components, and functional and decorative hardware.

The show runs through Friday, April 27 at Chicago's mcCormick Place. Among the most intriguing introductions is the Kitchen Maestro, developed by sound systems luminaries Harman & Kardon, being shown by hardware and component manufacturer Hafele. Very thin speakers are embedded in the kitchen cabinet doors, with a subwoofer above the crown or behind the kick plate. The speakers use the cabinet door itself as a resonator to expand the sound.

Here are the wood industry's top reports from the past week, including a pair of video's about IKEA's TV furniture: one serious, the other a take by Conan O'Brien.
