George Revington To Chair American Home Furnishing Alliance

George Revington To Chair American Home Furnishing Alliance HIGH POINT, NC - George Revington, CEO of Home Meridian International, based in High Point, NC, was elected 2014 chairman of the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA), the home furnishings manufacturers trade group. He succeeds Wyatt Bassett, CEO of Vaughan-Bassett, Galax, VA, who becomes immediate past chairman. 

Kevin Sauder, president and CEO of Sauder Woodworking, Archbold, OH, moves to first vice chairman, and Kevin O’Connor, CEO of Samson Marketing, High Point, was elected second vice chairman. All the posts are effective January 1, 2014. 

Revington heads Home Meridian International (HMI), which manufactures furniture at 30 factories throughout Asia, working with the largest factories in China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia. Shipping more than 12,000 containers a year, HMI says it is one of the world’s largest global furniture producers.

Revington led the 2006 creation of HMI through the merger of Samuel Lawrence Furniture and Pulaski Furniture. Revington headed Samuel Lawrence Furniture, which he and a group of investors purchased in 2000. Earlier, Revington held executive positions at Universal Furniture, including CEO, President of U.S. Operations and Executive VP Sales and Marketing. Revington began his career with family business Peters-Revington, then moved to Forrest Furniture, which he and a group of investors purchased and later sold to Universal Furniture.

Executives newly elected to three-year terms on the American Home Furnishing Alliance board include: Greg Harden, Harden Furniture, McConnellsville, NY.; Fred Henjes, Riverside Furniture, Fort Smith, AR; Harvey Hollingsworth, The Natural Light, Panama City, FL.; Joe Johnston, Johnston Casuals, North Wilkesboro, NC; Steve Lehman, Smith Brothers of Berne, Berne, IN; Alex Shuford III, Century Furniture, Hickory, NC; and Bill Wittenberg, Klaussner Furniture, Asheboro, NC.
