Fire Destroys Coomer & Sons SawmillFRANKFORT, IN - Coomer & Sons Sawmill was destroyed in a fire June 9.

Fire crews, dispatched to the sawmill at approximately 10:30 a.m., battled the blaze for about 35 minutes, but were unable to squelch it before it had done extensive damage.

Frankfort Fire Chief John Kirby said, “The entire structure collapsed, so we are fortunate there was no wind (that) night and we were able to get the situation under control very quickly, given the severity of the fire. The loss figure is unknown at this time, but we do consider the entire structure and all the equipment in it to be a total loss,” Kirby said.
Fire Destroys Coomer & Sons SawmillCoomer & Son Sawmill was founded inn 1978 by Charles Coomer. The company manufactures wood pallets and mulch for customers located within a 100-mile radius.
