LAS VEGAS, NV – According to the 2014 NKBA Kitchen & Bath Design Trends report, US homeowners are now favoring contemporary, spa-like, accessible, and easy-to-maintain designs in their bathrooms.
Only a few years ago, traditional styling represented three-quarters of the bathrooms designed by NKBA members. In 2013, contemporary styling represented 68 percent of the bathroom projects completed by NKBA bathroom designers.
“Spa bathrooms and Zen-like retreats are definitely desired aspects of today’s bathrooms, driving a more contemporary aesthetic,” said National Kitchen and Bath Association President John Petrie.
Other emerging bathroom design trends include beige and bone color schemes with white fixtures and polished chrome faucets, a soaking tub in a master bath, lighting and benches or seats in showers, electric radiant floor heating, steam showers, and comfort height vanities.
