Chester Wood Products Commits $10M to Modernize

CHESTER, SC - Chester Wood Products, a manufacturer and supplier of plywood and lumber products, said it will invest $10 million to expand and upgrade its hardwood plywood operations.

Chester Wood Products, already Chester County's largest manufacturing employer, said the modernization project will create approximately 20 jobs.

“We are pleased to be a major presence in a business-friendly area, said Dick Baldwin, vice president and general manager of Chester Wood Products.

Chester Wood Products supplies plywood and lumber product to the home and industrial construction markets.  Its products include southern pine sheathing plywood. The company operates a plywood mill and sawmill and utilizes timber products harvested from 11 upstate South Carolina counties, according to the office of South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

“Today’s announcement is another win for one of South Carolina’s rural areas," said Gov. Haley. "When our state’s existing businesses, like Chester Wood Products, increase their footprint here, we know we’re on the right track with our economic development efforts.”
