Century Furniture Takes on More of Bob Timberlake LineHICKORY, NC — Century Furniture will take over the production of furniture from the World of Bob Timberlake line that was recently manufactured by the now bankrupted Linwood Furniture, according to the Business Journal.

Linwood, which had produced nearly one-quarter of Timberlake’s line, was founded in 2006 by Timberlake and a group of investors to manufacture mid-range to lower-priced products licensed exclusively for Century, which also has licensing arrangements for Timberlake’s higher-end furniture designs. Century is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year.

For nearly 20 years Lexington Furniture held the license for the Timberlake furniture line. That agreement expired at the end of 2010 and was not renewed. Public reports at the time noted Timberlake’s displeasure that production of the furniture collection was being off-shored.

Timberlake, an internationally acclaimed painter and designer, has licensing arrangements with more than 15 vendors who manufacture everything in his home furnishings collection from furniture and lighting to building products, according to his web site.
