CWB is accepting entries for its 19th annual CWB Design Portfolio Awards. Finalists will be announced in November 2011 and category winners and honorable mentions will be featured in the January 2012 issue of CWB.

All submitted projects created since January 2010 will be judged on originality in design and excellence in craftsmanship in the following categories: Kitchen/Bath Cabinetry; Residential Furniture – Built-In; Residential Furniture – Freestanding; Architectural Millwork; Commercial/Institutional; Specialty Products; Laminates; and Solid Surface. 18th Annual Overall Winner
Parnian Design and Mfg. located in Scottsdale, AZ, was named the 18th annual CWB Design Portfolio Overall Winner for “Sunset Bed.” Constructed of ebony, sapele and curly maple veneer with MDF as the substrate, the bed was finished in a high-gloss lacquer. The focal point is the sunburst inlay woodwork, which was made with 78 small wedge shaped pieces that meet exactly at the center point creating a circular design.

“[The] spectacular bed draws your eye to the pinpoint center of the sunburst,” said Tom Gleason CWB Design Portfolio judge. “The sunburst is impeccably executed as is the entire bed.”
