Chester Wood Products, based in Chester, SC, manufactures softwood plywood panels and veneer for a variety of end markets. Moncure Plywood of Moncure, NC, is a flexible specialty plywood mill that produces both hardwood and softwood panels.

Wood Resources, a division of Greenwich, CT-based Atlas Holdings LLC, acquired Chester and Moncure from Weyerhaeuser Corp. in 2004. Wood Resources of Shelton, WA, will remain focused on operating its two remaining plywood operations in the Pacific Northwest. That includes its Colville plywood plant in Omak, WA, which Wood Resources announced in March it would reopen and hire up to 200 workers.

Tom Carlile, CEO of Boise Cascade. said adding the Chester and Moncure mills will "strengthen" Boise Cascade's Southern Region. Wood Resources announced last summer that it would commit $10 million to upgrade the Chester plywood plant.
