Although hardwood exports dipped in December 2014 and remain slow at the start of 2015, poplar, ash, walnut and hickory exports all set annual records in 2014.

Winter Weather Slowed Architectural Billings in January 2015

Following a nine-month stretch of positive billings, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) showed no increase in design activity in January 2015. The slowdown was likely a result of winter weather conditions, says the American Institute of Architects.


OSHA Alert: Stone Countertop Workers Endangered by Silica Dust

Countertop workers are in serious danger from silica dust emitted in cutting, finishing and even installing countertops. As 61 workers developed silicosis, some requiring lung transplants, OHSA and NIOSH issued a hazard alert.
