Mastodon Music Video Shows Wood Sculpting of Album Art

Atlanta-based heavy metal band Mastodon commissioned woodworker AJ Fosik to design the bull head sculpture that graced the cover of their 2011 "The Hunter" album. The music video for the song "Black Tongue" shows how Fosik arrived at the finished product.

The piece, entitled "Sad Demon Oath", follows Fosik's signature aesthetic: tribal subjects depicted in an ultra-vivid way.

Mastodon themselves count woodworkers among their members: guitarist Brent Hinds was a full-time carpenter, like his father, during the band's early years.
