The recommendations are based on specific attributes, including proximity to customer, expertise and ratings. Pro.com assigns service professionals on the site a rank for any estimate created.

When a customer is ready to schedule, Pro.com gives the option to book online. Online direct booking services are currently available in select cities, including Seattle.

For the home services professional, companies and individuals are not charged a fee to be listed in the marketplace. Instead Pro.com receives a commission of the completed work performed directly by the professional. Pro.com collects verified customer reviews before certifying the pro and after completing a job.

Based in Seattle, Pro.com was founded by Williams and his team of former Amazon executives and has raised $3.5 million in funding from Madrona Venture Group, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint, Bezos Expeditions, Two-Sigma Ventures and Sherpa Foundry.
