ATLANTA - Malone Design/Fabrication says it completed the acquisition of Garrison Woodcrafters.

Malone Design/Fabrication, a Decatur, GA-based provider of museum exhibits, branded environments and architectural millwork, operates from a 50,000 square foot facility. Garrison Woodcrafters, an affiliate of The Macallan Group, is a full service architectural woodworking company that specializes in custom millwork for both residential and commercial construction.

Approximately 30,000 square feet are dedicated to fabrication, including areas dedicated to milling, assembly, metal fabrication, finishing, scenic production, and graphic production. Key pieces of equipment include a Weeke BP-12 CNC machining center, Altendorf F45 panel saw, Brandt Edge Bander, 12’ x 24’ enclosed spray booth, and an Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 wide format printer.

The two companies are a good fit because both companies appreciate the craft of high-end woodworking, according to Tom Wright, CEO of Malone Design. Both also have a service-oriented culture, and have completed high profile projects across the U.S., according to Wright.

Founded over 50 years ago, Malone was acquired in 2002 by entrepreneurs Wright, Tom Noonan, and Dr. Ray Noonan. Malone specializes in the production of interpretive exhibits for museums, and has leveraged that experience into numerous other commercial segments, completing projects for nearly 500 private and public institutions across the U.S.

"We are excited to add Ronnie Lippert and the other Garrison professionals to our team," Wright says. He expects Garrison's strengths in operational strategy, project management, estimating, and detailing will bring new value to Malone projects.

"We have long standing respect for Garrison's industry knowledge and attention to detail. It is not often that you find a business combination with such synergy of capabilities, skills, and interests."

Malone high profile projects include the millwork at the beautifully renovated Hyatt Regency Atlanta,  the popular tourist destination Hoover Dam Visitor Center near Las Vegas, the High Museum of Art retail spaces, and sports centers at University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Auburn University.

Malone's fabrication capabilities include traditional woodworking, and specialty areas such as metalwork, graphics, specialty lighting, scenic reproductions and interactive technology solutions - capabilities that differentiate them from typical millwork companies, says Wright.
