Kent Gilchrist, president of Fremont Interiors, Inc., Carmel, IN, among the team of winners (Conley Caseworks, Leininger Cabinets, and Riverside Construction) for the Buffalo Sabers Hockey Team headquarters.

The woodworking project winners at the Architectural Woodworking Institute were awarded today the annual Design Solutions Best of the Best awards luncheon.

Winners in seven categories were named, many of the projects featured in Design Solutions, the quarterly magazine of the AWI.

In the Education category, the winner was Lange Brothers, Milwaukee, for the DuPage College Culinary School project.

In Healthcare, Genbrook Millwork, Greene, New York, for the United Vestal Outpatient Clinic.

In the Public Facilities category, the winner was Allegheny Millwork, Pittsburgh for Virgin Atlanta Airport Club.

Winning for the Corporate projects category was Imperial Woodworking, Palatine, IL, for Burj Khalifa.

In the Hospitality category, the winner (and overall winner) was Harmony Plus for the Chars Restaurant.

For the Sports category, winners were Fremont Interiors, Inc., Carmel, IN; Conley Caseworks, Elma, NY; Leininger Cabinets, Lexington, KY and Riverside Construction, for the Buffalo Sabers Hockey Team headquarters. The project also won the AWI Standard of Excellence Award.

Two other awards announced during the luncheon were AWI Volunteer Spirit to Margaret Singer of Lange brothers, Milwaukee; and Chapter of the Year, to the Washington AWI Chapter, Jim Mammina, President.
