MISSISSAUGA (TORONTO) - The Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) will present a pair of free special education seminars at the Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo (WMS 2013), including one conducted in French.

Architectural Woodwork StandardsAWMAC is working with the AWI and WI to update the Architectural Woodwork Standards published in 2009. Each of the 75-minute sessions scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, will focus on the soon-to-be-released 2nd edition of the Architectural Woodwork Standards. The standards have been updated in a collaboration among AWMAC, the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) and Woodwork Institute (WI).

Originally published in 2009, the Architectural Woodwork Standards is the definitive reference manual designed to simplify and clarify guidelines, information and principles required for fabrication, finishing and installation of architectural woodwork. The manual provides design professionals with a logical simple means to comprehensively specify elements of architectural woodwork, and also provides criteria to ensure that all woodwork manufacturers and installers bidding on a project compete on an equal basis and perform work of equal quality.

Martin Boutet, owner of Heritage Architectural Woodwork Inc. and director of AWMAC's Quebec chapter, will be the featured presenter. He will deliver a French version at 9:30 a.m. followed by an English version at 11:00 a.m. Both of the sessions will be held at the Aviation Ballroom of Hall 5 of the Internatonal Centre, home of WMS 2013.

AWMAC's sessions are among 10 free education sessions that will be held during the three-day WMS 2013. View the full WMS 2013 Conference schedule.

AWMAC is one of 10 trade association partners of WMS 2013. Flakeboard and General Intl are exhibitor sponsors of the event.

WMS 2013 will bring the largest assembly of woodworking machinery, supplies and services from around the world right to the doorstep of the Canadian wood products industry. The show will feature everything from CNC machining centers, edgebanders, moulders and computer software through cutting tools, cabinet hardware, decorative panels and finishing materials.
