Houzz's Design and Remodeling Platform Goes GlobalPALO ALTO, CA -- Houzz, an online and mobile platform for remodeling and design, hired Oliver Jung to lead its global expansion.

In an effort to accelerate its international growth, offices in the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia have already been opened with more offices scheduled to open later this year.

“Houzz transformed the $300 billion dollar home remodeling and design industry in the U.S. and is well on its way to doing the same on a global scale,” said Jung. “I’ve been amazed by Houzz’s brand equity in other countries and am excited to join the team during this next phase of growth.”

Jung, an entreprenuer and consultant, previously spearheaded the launch and global expansion of Airbnb, an online marketplace for owners to list uinque properties and vacation rentals.

Founded in 2009 Houzz has experienced significant growth since its launch and of its more than 16 million monthly unique site visitors approximately 35% are located outside of the U.S.

“Expanding to new markets will help us meet the enormous demand for our platform and provide the localized experience our global community of homeowners and home professionals has been asking for," said Adi Tatarko, Houzz cofounder and CEO.

Additionally, there have been more than 12 million app downloads and more than 300,000 professionals across 60 categories, including home builders, architects, interior designers and contractors. Homeowners from 184 countries responded to Houzz’s annual Houzz & Home survey last year. And more than 85,000 international home improvement professionals already use Houzz.

In 2013, to meet the growing demand, Houzz tripled its staff to 170 and plans to hire more engineers and design personnel.
