CWC Supports Ontario's Decision on Wood-Frame Buildings

The Canadian Wood Council and Wood WORKS! Ontario are pleased with the Government of Ontario’s decision to allow the use of wood-frame construction in buildings of up to six-storeys.

West Fraser has acquired Travis Lumber Co.'s sawmill and lumber manufacturing operations based in Mansfield, AR. Details of the transaction were not released.


NSDA Architects Wins First Annual SFI Wood Design Award

The first Sustainable Forestry Initiative Award went to NSDA, a Vancouver architectural firm, for the Kordyban Lodge Cancer Care Facility, which uses wood intensively in interior and exterior construction. NSDA also recently won an Alberta Wood Works Award.




Canadian Housing Starts Dip Slightly to Start Year

Canadian housing starts opened the year trending at 191,456 units in January compared to 194,518 in December, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
