HAMPDEN, NL - Burton's Cove Logging and Lumber Limited says it will be the first sawmill in Canada to build an automated laser scaling system for measuring wood volume.

Through the use of mathematical models and 3D laser scanners, Burton's Cove Logging and Lumber Limited, in Hampden, Newfoundland and Labrador, plans to develop an automated scaling system that will allow the company to measure the volume of wood that can be used for lumber.
