Reclaimed Oak Truck Decking

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware presents its Route 66 Lumber (44241), oak lumber reclaimed from the decking on big tractor-trailers. It is a mix of white and red oak sold in pairs of 12” W x 6’ L planks that are 1 ¼” thick and feature rustic gouges and the dark patina of daily use, says Rockler. Dotted along the edges are the blackened holes from when the bolts were torched out. The bolt holes can be left on for character, or cut around if desired, adds the company.  The less worn side shows rust bands from the tractor trailer's frame. Rockler recommends using a metal detector prior to sawing to find any nails or other metal fragments. Applications include table tops, weathered furniture, framing, signs and other custom projects. Reclaimed Route 66 Lumber retails for $5.99 per board foot in stores and online in bundles of two planks (15 board feet) for $89.85
