Digitally Customizable Sustainable Laminates

BioSurf introduces BioSurf 2DL Stratus, a line of digitally customizable, sustainable laminates that offer multi-layer, textural imaging capabilities, says the company. Stratus uses a multilayer print technology to enable custom textures that align with high definition images, delivering a look and feel that is similar to the texture found in 3D printing. Applications include retail store fixtures and hospitality, wall paneling, tables, interior doors and cabinetry. 2DL Stratus is bio-based and made of corn and soy byproducts. It is available in more than 100 standard (and limitless custom) colors and textures, says BioSurf, and can be used in a wide range of surface profiles and substrates.  2DL Stratus is manufactured by laminating corn and soy biofilm to a FSC-certified saturated paper backer. Then a composite sheet is sent to a wide-format HD printer, where standard patterns or images or custom user-supplied image are printed onto it. After it is cured a final protective coating is applied. All BioSurf products are Red List Free and do not contain any materials or chemicals in conflict with The Living Building Challenge 2.0, according to the company.
