Jay Z Gets Woodsy with New Cologne

Jay Z, GOLD JAY ZParlux Fragrances NEW YORK - Proving wood scents can indeed be sexy, international artist Jay Z's men's fragrance debut incorporates teak, cypress and myrrh. GOLD JAY Z will be available November 29 in major department stores.

Working with Firmenich perfumer Ilias Ermenidis, Jay Z's GOLD is a layered blend of yellow ginger, white cardamom and grapefruit, with an infusion of violet leaf, cypress, lavender and vetiver, and shots of patchouli, teak, myrrh and bourbon vanilla.

"I was impressed with Jay Z's style and confidence and was drawn to the ease with which he carries himself and all of his success," Ilias Ermenidis said in a statement. "He has a natural cool that people want a piece of. In developing GOLD JAY Z, I wanted to capture both the vibrant ambitious part of JAY Z's charismatic persona and his effortless style that he naturally embodies through a fusion of notes chosen by JAY Z."

Shawn "Jay Z" Carter is a 17-time Grammy award winner. In addition to his work as a musician, he served as president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings before forming entertainment firm Roc Nation. In addition to Roc Nation Sports, he is also the founder and chairman of Rocawear and a majority owner of the 40/40 sports clubs. Philanthropic efforts are made through the Shawn Carter Foundation.

Prices for the eau de toilette spray will range from $39 for 1 ounce bottles, to $70 for the 3 ounce size.
