Granite kitchen countertops are so 2008. I don’t know exactly when granite became the king of the kitchen. It must have been some time in the mid-’90s, because I remember when my mother redid her kitchen and installed a granite countertop, and her book club friends would come over and ooh and ahh so much they’d practically be drooling on it.
