Wood CEO Headlines Custom Cabinet Conference
Wood CEO Headlines Custom Cabinet Conference

Wood CEO Headlines Custom Cabinet ConferencePaul Downs, president of Paul Downs Cabinetmakers and keynoter at the 2014 Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo, embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of the unique three-day event set for April 9-11 in Somerset, NJ.

Downs has had a long run of success. Since opening his business in 1986, he has expanded the size of his manufacturing operation on four different occasions, today occupying a 33,000-square-foot facility in Bridgeport, PA. What’s more, Downs has survived the Great Recession while evolving Paul Downs Cabinetmakers to service a lucrative niche manufacturing high-end custom conference tables.

Like Downs, the custom cabinet and closet professionals who attend the full-day conference, set this year for Wednesday, April 9 at the Hotel Somerset-Bridgewater, tend to be resilient and constantly focused on improving their businesses. They come to the Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo in search of fresh ideas and new products that will help them save or make more money and to connect with industry suppliers and their peers in an event that offers multiple networking opportunities.

Downs’ presentation will draw from his 27 years of experience of running a custom woodworking business, a business that generated $2.3 million in sales last year. He has shared many of his personal stories in the “You’re the Boss” blog that he has been writing for the New York Times since 2010. Topics have ranged from developing an employee profit sharing plan and creating a new website to hiring a sales consultant and making sense of the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare).

Downs headlines the Cabinets & Closets Conference being organized by the Cabinetmakers Association, Association of Closet and Storage Professionals, Custom Woodworking Business and Closets magazine. The conference is capped by an All-Delegate Networking Reception highlighted by the presentation of the Custom Woodworking Design Portfolio Awards and Closets Top Shelf Design Awards.

The event shifts over to the nearby Garden State Convention Center on April 10 and 11 where leading manufacturers and distributors of hardware, wood components, CAD/CAM software, woodworking machinery and more will display their wares at the Cabinets & Closets Expo.

Both days of the expo will also feature live product demonstrations at individual exhibitor’s booths and at the Expo Demonstration Stage.
