Small Cabinet Saw with Big FeaturesA 10˝ 115V cabinet saw for woodworkers and remodelers, the Powermatic 1000 carries features of its larger 230V siblings. With cast iron tabletop, the saw ($1999, 5-year warranty) features a 30˝ maximum rip capacity right of the blade; a 52” rip version (add $100) is also offered.

The PM1000’s blade guard assembly and riving knives contain kickback. Heavy-duty front and rear trunnions provide stability and rigidity.

A pushbutton arbor lock sets up quick blade changes with a single wrench, which is included. T-slot channels on either side of the blade support the large 60° miter gauge with preset detents at 0º, 30º and 45°. A pair of expander mechanisms in the gauge’s guide bar helps eliminate side-to-side play in the T-slot; and a disk that engages the channel to prevent it from lifting during a cut.

Powermatic’s Accu-Fence incorporates a pair of thick rigid polyethylene slabs that allow wood to slide predictably. The face can be adjusted vertically to ride flush with the table top surface or rise just above it. A 13/4 hp, single-phase induction motor drives the table saw with a poly-V belt. A big pushbutton on/off switch has a removable magnetic key to stop unauthorized use.
