Debuting May 1, 2013, is the new Festool plunge cut track saw, TS 55 Req. Here is Festool’s advance rundown on what's new with the saw:

• Redesigned riving knife emerges before the saw blade for easier positioning in existing cuts lines.

• Streamlined splinter guard said to eliminating tearout on both sides of the blade.

• With a flat housing offset to 1/1-15/16”, it can make straight cuts parallel to any edge, increasing the range of applications for a plunge saw.

• Large, readable scale indicates depth setting, for cuts on or off the guide rail. Also includes a self-adhering Imperial scale.

• Integrated micro-adjust knob gives precise depth adjustment, so it cuts only what’s intended.

•Simple detent-override function extends angle cutting to -1° to 47° with positive stops at 0° and 45°.

• Improved dust channel design enhances sawdust extraction efficiency, so you can work in the customer’s space, with less clean-up.
