Two directors of an Ontario furniture importer and retailer were slapped with 25-day prison sentences and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty to safety violations in the workplace death of an employee.

Interfor Acquires Four Sawmills from Simpson Lumber

Canadian lumber firm Interfor will acquire four sawmills from Simpson Lumber for $94.7 million. The move increases Interfor's total capacity by 30% and pushes its U.S. business from 57% to 67% of Interfor's total capacity.
