Canadian Housing Starts Inch Up in June

New home starts in Canada remained virtually flat in June, increasing by 0,002% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 184,514 units, 427 more than in May, according to the Canada Mortgage and Home Corporation..

International Forest Products Ltd. (Interfor) has completed its acquisition of Keadle Lumber Enterprises' sawmill operations. Finalizing of the $45 million transaction was announced July 1.

Weyerhaeuser Dimension Lumber Mill in $23 Million Upgrade

Weyerhaeuser will spend $23 million for production upgrades at its dimensional softwood lumber mill in Drayton Valley, Alberta in Canada. The 18 month project will see a 35% increase in volume.
