UCS Forest Group of Companies will acquire the assets and ongoing business activities of the British Columbia business unit of White-Wood Distributors Ltd. UCS does business in Canada as Upper Canada Forest Products Ltd.

Northwest Hardwoods Inc. (NWH) has recently completed the acquisition of Industrial Timber & Lumber Company (ITL) based in Beachwood, Ohio. NWH is headquartered in Tacoma, WA and has operations in the United States, Canada, China, and Japan.

Genetically Engineered Apple Trees Get USDA Okay

Apples from genetically engineered apple trees, the Arctic Golden and Arctic Granny apples, have received USDA okay to be marketed. Developed by Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. of Summerland, BC, the apples will likely be propagated via bud wood and grafting.
