At IWF 2016 in Atlanta, visitors had a chance to get an up-close look at the very anticipated GS Router, a 2016 Challengers Award Finalist. With speed and precision, the GS bridges the gap between nesting on a conventional CNC router and cutting books of panels on a beam saw.
I was contacted by IWF about being part of a small group, the “GoPro Guys,” that would walk around the show floor and do video interviews with any company or product that sparked our interest. Of course I would!
SCM now offers a small machining center for vertical drilling, able to produce up to 400 pieces per shift. It is applicable to Batch 1 production, drilling on 5 faces of the panel with routing and grooving operations.
With speed and precision, the GS will bridge the gap between nesting on a conventional CNC router and cutting books of panels on a beam saw. It will offer the best of both worlds. With an average nest time of around 2 minutes, it can produce more than double the output of a typical CNC router.
