Registration now open for 2022 WCMA/WMMA Plant Tours And Fall Conference Event

LINDSTROM, Minn. – Each year, the WCMA looks forward to connecting with members, non-members and tech partners during the annual fall conference & plant tour event, sharing best practices and exchanging ideas on manufacturing related issues. This year, the WCMA is joining forces with the Wood Machinery Manufacturers Of America (WMMA) to hold a joint fall conference & plant tour event. the event will be held in Minneapolis, from Wednesday, November 2 through Friday, November 4.

Zappos exec: Get to know your customer

LAHAINA, HI --  Alex Genov, Head of Customer Research at Zappos, told Wood Industry Congress (WIC) attendees to do what it takes to understand customers as people and not as demographic statistics.  Genov said Zappos, the giant online shoe retailer that is owned by Amazon.com, empowers its customer service employees to do whatever is necessary to make customers happy. Zappos employees may make decisions on refunds and exchanges without input from management. His presentation was delivered during the Joint WMIA/WMMA Technology session of WIC on May 2.

WMMA says proposed tariffs already affecting steel prices, plans to survey members

LAHAINA, HI -- Several members of the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA) Public Policy Committee said today that they have already seen significant increases in steel even though the Trump Administration's proposed 25% steel tariffs on Europe, Mexico and Canada have been stalled to at least June 1.  The comments were made during the WMMA Public Policy Committee's annual meeting at the Wood Industry Conference.

WMMA regional meeting tours C.R. Onsrud, Precision Drive Systems

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- WMMA held its first regional networking and education event in Charlotte, North Carolina, in mid-September. They had more than 40 participants in the inaugural event. In-person committee meetings were full of information and ideas on moving the organization forward. Speakers Cyndi Gave and Urs Buehlmann shared their expertise on hiring processes and understanding of the monthly housing and economic reports.
