Steelcase Inc. reported fourth quarter revenue of $769.1 million and net income of $25.8 million.

The U.S. office furniture industry continues trending upward, with pre-election projections for U.S. production reaching $10.8 billion in 2017, and consumption hitting $14.4 billion, according to earlier figures from IHS Global Insight/Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Assn. Likewise, projections from research group Statista have the total revenue of office furniture manufacturers in Canada reaching $4.41 billion.

The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Assn. has enhanced its level certified product database to allow purchasers to identify furniture products that meet specific sustainability criteria.

Furniture maker Kimball International announced that the nearly $10 million it received from the sale of its Idaho facility will be used towards funding up to $25 million in share repurchases over the next 12-14 months.

Home office and small business furniture producer Jesper Office LLC has a new owner. The assets of the New Jersey-based firm have been aquired by Unique Furniture A/S based in Kolding, Denmark. Financial terms of the Aug. 28 acquisition were not disclosed.

The office furniture industry continues to show modest improvement through July, according to a quarterly survey of more than 700 domestic and international office furniture manufacturers and suppliers, conducted by Michael A. Dunlap & Associates LLC.

Safco Products Co. announced it will acquire office furniture manufacturer Mayline Co. LLC. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close by September, were not disclosed. This is the second acquisition this year for the contract furniture producer, which acquired Focal Upright in May.

In the same reporting period that furniture manufacturer Kimball consolidated its Idaho plant, sales and earnings rose.
