Norbord Inc. has resumed production at its OSB mill in High Level, Alberta after the evacuation order for the town of High Level was lifted. Production had been suspended since May 21 due to wildfires burning in the region.
Norbord announced that it is donating $1 million to the Home Builders Institute (HBI) to help with the rebuilding efforts following the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida.
Louisiana-Pacific Corp. and Norbord Inc. have agreed to swap OSB mills in Quebec. The asset exchange transaction is expected to close in early November. Norbord is transferring ownership of its mill in Val-d’Or, Quebec to LP in exchange for LP's OSB mill in Chambord, Quebec. Both mills are currently shuttered.
Norbord Inc. announced that the Quebec Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks has terminated the wood license associated with its curtailed Val-d’Or, Quebec OSB mill. Production at the Val-d’Or mill was indefinitely suspended in 2012 following persistently weak North American housing market conditions and lower demand for OSB.
The Supreme Court of British Columbia gave approval to a planned C$762.6 million ($667 million) merger between Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd and Norbord Inc., a wood components manufacturer.
