AWI Education Foundation awards $50,000 in scholarships

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. -- The Education Foundation of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWIEF) has awarded scholarships totaling $50,000 to 25 eligible students who aspire to careers in the woodwork industry.   The awards mark a milestone for the AWIEF resulting from a $1 million contribution from the Quality Certification Corporation in 2021 for annual scholarship funding of $50,000 per year for 20 years. The student support funds are designated as Randolph Estabrook Scholarships in honor of QCC’s former executive director.

Countertop national standard available for review

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. - The Architectural Woodwork Institute announced that the draft of Proposed American National Standard AWI 1236 – Countertops is available for public review through Feb. 15.   According to AWI, Proposed American National Standard AWI 1236 – Countertops will provide standards and tolerances for the quality and fit of countertops and establish minimum aesthetic and performance requirements intended to provide a well-defined degree of control over a project’s quality of materials and workmanship.

New countertop standard proposed by AWI

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. - A new countertop standard is being submitted to the American National Standards Institute for public comment and canvass. Developed by the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Standards Development Team, AWI 1236–Countertops will provide standards and tolerances for the quality and fit of countertops, along with establishing minimum aesthetic and performance requirements to provide a well-defined degree of control over a project’s quality of materials and workmanship for the manufacture of countertops.
