SAYERLACK® introduces a new waterborne clear self-sealer

Born in Italy from innovation and passion, Sayerlack® has been providing the most innovative and highest quality finishes for wood since 1954. Sayerlack® has quickly become one of the largest producers of wood coatings in Europe, now available in the U.S.

Waterborne is not a new technology, but today’s waterborne finishing options are light years ahead of those available even five years ago. They look, feel and dry much more to the aesthetic levels a woodworker expects to see from solvent-based finishes. They’re easier to work with and provide a beautiful, durable finish that designers will appreciate and end-users will enjoy for years to come.

What It Is: Hydroplus™ AF71 Series is designed for interior wood applications where performance and intuitive application are required. It is a clear, 1K waterborne interior topcoat system with low-VOC technology that provides good chemical resistance, hardness and resistance to thermoplasticity and has excellent transparency for accurate color development. The excellent pore wetting properties of Hydroplus™ AF71 are particularly suited for two-coat systems or open grain woods, such as oak. Available in five packaged gloss levels, intermediate gloss levels can easily be achieved through intermixing.

Finishers can also utilize an optional catalyst system to further enhance the durability and performance of the finish. With its high quality, European technology, the Sayerlack® Hydroplus™ AF71 Series easily meets the stringent performance criteria of wood office furniture and kitchen cabinet manufacturers.

The Value Effect: What does that mean to our customers? It means outstanding chemical and moisture resistance that enables the coating to easily pass test criteria for the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association, Architectural Woodwork Institute and American Composites Manufacturing Association. It also dries quickly, making it an ideal choice for high-production environments. Optional catalysts significantly improve the chemical-physical properties.

The Difference: Hydroplus™ AF71 is distinguished from other waterborne coatings in the market because of its ease of application, clarity and the natural warm look it adds to the wood substrate. Other waterborne coatings may appear cloudy or have a blue or violet hue where applied.

Key Influences:
  • Less time and material handling
  • No need to change equipment or flush lines when moving to a new product
  • Single gun application method
