Who needs an ink jet printer when a blow torch can do the job, expecially when the job is to print on wood?
Such is the base concept of FireWriter created by Lucien Langton of ECAL, a high-brow arts school in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Langton's FireWrite is a modified an inkjet printer that accommodates a Dremel butane torch that shoots a flame up to 1200C. The device produces renderings dot by dot from imported black and white images onto wood, paper, plastic and other substrates.
