The United Brotherhood of Carpenters recently developed a new identification system for each of its members. The new ID cards display the name, UBC number, and photo of each cardholder, in addition to a QR code which can be scanned with a smartphone after the download of a free app.

By scanning the ID card, employers can immediately verify the training and certifications of a member.

In the following video, Vince Sticca, director of training for the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, explains how the new member ID card identifies with contractor needs by ensuring skill, training, and safety education.
