Carpentry Shop at Vance-Granville College Adds Woodworking Class

HENDERSON, NC- A 10-week evening Woodworking course is offered in the Carpentry shop at Vance-Granville Community College’s Main Campus in Vance County, Henderson, NC. 

Students make projects such as cabinets, dressers, tables and beds. The deadline to register is Jan. 28. Teaching the class will be Keith Tunstall, VGCC’s program head and instructor for the Carpentry curriculum program, part of the school's Business & Applied Technology programs.

The regular Carpentry curriculum at VGCC trains students in all aspects of residential construction, including interior finish carpentry, cabinetry making, and general carpentry skills, using a standard house-in-progress on the campus. Carpentry skills and a general knowledge of residential construction is taught, along with techniques in building materials and hand and power tools.

Graduates will be qualified for employment in residential building construction as rough carpenters, framing carpenters, roofers, maintenance carpenters and other related job titles. Contact Keith Tunstall, Program Head
