Eyeing Growth, Kyocera Acquires Vilnius Woodworking Tool Maker

KYOTO, JAPAN - Aiming to double its woodworking tool sales, the Kyocera Group industrial cutting tools subsidiary, Kyocera Unimerco A/S has acquired all shares of Garsdalo Medienos Technologija (GMT), a Vilnius, Lithuania manufacturer and distributor of woodworking tools.

Kyocera Unimerco says it aims to strengthen its woodworking tool business currently centered in Northern Europe, and double its sales in this business segment by the year 2020.

“We weathered a serious slump with the mortgage crisis and after-effects to housing and remodeling but have recovered and now employ 350 in our two facilities,” says Operations Manager Mark Souza.
